Each year the Michigan Humanities Council selects "The Great Michigan Read"--an outstanding book that features our state. The 2011-2012 selection is "Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights and Murder in the Jazz Age," by Detroit native Kevin Boyle. It’s the electrifying account of a murder trial that resulted when an African American physician purchased a home in a white Detroit neighborhood in 1925. "Arc of Justice" won the 2004 National Book Award for nonfiction and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. CADL is pleased to have been selected to host Boyle’s visit to our area.
