A Novel Idea: Thoreau Worked at Walden?

Event Type: Adult Program
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 4/20/2012
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 2:00 PM
Description:
University of Oregon professor of English William Rossi will discuss why Henry Thoreau’s Walden, much like Moby Dick and Uncle Tom’s Cabin, is known by many and read by few. But, for Americans, why does no other nineteenth-century writer comes to mind prepackaged with a myth that makes his book less likely to be read than Thoreau? Free and open to the public.
