Learn the craft of haibun with Oregon poet Margaret Chula. Made famous by seventeenth-century Japanese poet Matsuo Basho, haibun is a natural form for storytellers. Following an introduction to haiku and haibun, participants will read and discuss a variety of haibun from contemporary poets. The last hour of the class will be devoted to writing and sharing your own stories through haibun. This workshop is open to writers of all levels of experience.
