 Join fellow grant writers on Wednesday, June 17 from 1:30 – 4:30 for an engaging presentation by Census Data Dissemination Specialist Linda Clark and learn how to make the most of Census data when writing grants. Census for Grant Writers is geared towards grant writing professionals as well as the novice data user, and covers the benefits of using census data in grant proposals.

Participants will learn about the main Census Bureau programs and the advantages each one offers. Step-by-step, customized hands-on exercises will highlight local geography and feature some of the myriad topics that can help you build an effective case for your project funding including basic population counts, age and gender, race and ethnicity, educational attainment, language spoken at home, income and poverty, and housing characteristics . Everyone is encouraged to bring their own laptops.

As the Census Bureau’s Data Dissemination Specialist for the Pacific Northwest, Linda Clark has conducted more than 500 data training workshops in Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. She has held a variety of other positions at the Census Bureau, including area manager for Census 2000 in the San Francisco Bay Area and team leader for the Recruiting Branch at Census Bureau headquarters in Washington, D.C.
