Learn how to teach coding to your children and students. Designed with homeschooling parents in mind, but open to all parents and educators, this workshop will help you use free, online, age appropriate computer science resources for coding beginners and early readers.
Library: Redmond Public LibraryLearning goals: Coding for Parents and Educators workshop participants will: •Understand how coding supports computational learning in early readers. •Use pair programing (using model of Driver and Navigator one computer) to teach and reinforce 21st Century learning skills. •Address different learning styles by participating in kinesthetic, auditory, and visual activities (plugged and unplugged). •Practice puzzle solving recipes to encourage perseverance. •Create individual accounts to monitor your homeschooler’s progress •Learn how to assess your student for coding skills. •Acquire knowledge and practice of computer science curriculum aligned to CSTA and ISTE standards and developmentally appropriate for early readers.
