Once marginalized as representing a small portion of the American tradition, African American writers are now included in most contemporary college-level surveys of American literature.
Library: Downtown Bend Public LibraryAnnemarie Hamlin is a faculty member and the chair of humanities at Central Oregon Community College. She holds a Ph.D. in English and is a specialist in nineteenth-century American literature. Her teaching areas include African-American literature, Asian-American literature, women’s literature, and literature and medicine.
