Description:
Hear how industrialization affected the world and U.S. economy and changed economic relationships across classes.

Industrialization dramatically changed relationships across the world and U.S. economy. The relationships between workers and their government, workers and managers and different kinds of workers with each other, and even workers and their own families changed profoundly. The very notion of what it meant "to work" forever changed in the 19th century, affecting us powerfully even today. COCC history professor Murray Godfrey will discuss the how the industrialization process occurred in the United States and Pacific Northwest, and how it affected economic relationships across classes.

Murray A. Godfrey is Assistant Professor of history in the World Languages and Cultures department at Central Oregon Community College where he has worked since 2012. He received a Master of Arts degree in History from Texas State University specializing in the history of 17th and 18th century North America. Prior to coming to Central Oregon, Murray previously taught for Austin Community College in Austin, TX and Alamo Community College District in San Antonio, TX.
