 Join the discussion about criminalization, poverty, prisons, harm within the U.S. criminal justice system.

A historian at heart, reporter by (w)right, rebel by reason, Walidah Imarisha is an educator, writer, public scholar and spoken word artist.

Walidah Imarisha is the editor of two anthologies, "Octavia's Brood: Science Fiction Stories From Social Justice Movements" and "Another World is Possible," and the author of the poetry collection "Scars/Stars. Her nonfiction book "Angels with Dirty Faces: Three Stories of Crime, Prison, and Redemption" recently won a 2017 Oregon Book Award. Currently a Lecturer in Stanford University's Program of Writing and Rhetoric, she has also taught in Portland State University's Black Studies Department, Oregon State University's Women's Studies Department and Southern New Hampshire University's English Department.

During the Think & Drink event Walidah will discuss her new book and lead a discussion about criminalization, poverty, prisons, harm, and systems of accountability within the U.S. criminal justice system.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and event starts at 6:30 p.m. Food, beverages and books will be for sale.
