Description:
 Nalini Iyer, Professor of English at Seattle University and co-author of "Roots and Reflections: South Asians in the Pacific Northwest," discusses the long history of South Asian immigration to the Pacific Northwest. She will also discuss how South Asian American literature has evolved in the United States and examine the contributions of writers from the West Coast to the literary world.


Nalini Iyer is Professor of English at Seattle University where she teaches postcolonial literatures from South Asia, Africa, and their diasporas. She is the co-author/co-editor of three books: Other Tongues: Rethinking the Language Debates in India (2009), Roots and Reflections: South Asians in the Pacific Northwest (2013), and Revisiting India’s Partition: New Essays in Memory, Culture, and Politics (2016). She is also Vice President of the South Asian Literary Association (SALA).
