Library: Redmond Public LibraryJoin artist Demian DinéYazhi´ for an intro to zine making for teens and adults. Zines are a great way to get your ideas into the world using text, images, collage, and drawing. For this workshop, we'll focus on making zines around the broad theme of plants. Bring any content (text, poems, images, plants, etc.) that you'd like to include in your zine or use the materials we have onsite. We'll bring lots of plants found in Central Oregon for inspiration too. Connect your creativity to the natural world! Demian DinéYazhi´ is a Portland-based Diné transdisciplinary artist born to the clans Naasht'ézhí Tábąąhá (Zuni Clan Water's Edge) and Tódích'íí'nii (Bitter Water). He received his BFA in Intermedia Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2014. Demian is the founder and director of the artist/activist initiative, R.I.S.E.: Radical Indigenous Survivance & Empowerment, which is dedicated to education, perseverance, and evolution of Indigenous art & culture. Demian has been an artist-in-residence at Institute of American Indian Arts, Caldera, Crow's Shadow, and Portland Institute of Contemporary Art. Demian is an Artist in Residence at Caldera, a program that awards creative individuals, collaborations, and performing ensembles the gift of time and space at the Caldera Arts Center near Sisters, Oregon.
