Date: 8/22/2018

End Time: 1:00 PM
Description:
Discuss Deschutes County's past, present and future marijuana grow policy.

Deschutes County has allowed marijuana grow sites in rural areas since fall 2016. Nearly 40 applications for grow sites have been approved, several denied, and over 20 are still awaiting a County decision. The Community Development Department completed an evaluation of the marijuana program in spring. Based on the evaluation, the Board of County Commissioners is proposing amendments to the regulations with public hearings scheduled to begin in late summer. Our program will highlight the program’s nearly two-year history and changes currently under consideration by County Commissioners.

Nick Lelack, AICP, is the Deschutes County Community Development Director. Prior to joining the County in 2009, his experiences spanned the public, private and non-profit sectors; federal, state and local governments; urban, rural and resort communities; coast-to-coast; and from high altitudes to sea level. He has Masters Degrees in Community and Regional Planning, and Public Administration, from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor Science from Willamette University.
