Date: 4/11/2019
Start Time: 6:00 PM

Description:
Oregon Poet Laureate Kim Stafford reads.

Kim Stafford has shaped his works around the notion of poetry as a luxury that could save your life--perhaps a little at a time--by making your days more buoyant, filled with curiosity and insight, and emotionally rich.

Stafford will read from individual poems that seek connection with the self, other people, and the Earth.

Kim Stafford, the son of poet William Stafford, received his Ph.D. in medieval literature from the University of Oregon. Since 1979, he has taught writing at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.
In July 2018, he was appointed Oregon's Poet Laureate by Governor Kate Brown. The Poet Laureate Program is a collaborative project of the state's five cultural partners, the Oregon Arts Commission, Oregon Humanities, Oregon Heritage Commission, Oregon Historical Society, and the State Historic Preservation Office, with funding from the Oregon Cultural trust.

Stafford is the founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute.
