Library: Downtown Bend Public LibraryJoin author Kim Fu for a generative writing workshop that explores a character-first model of fiction writing. Through examples, prompts, and discussion, participants will leave with new writing and methods to make the leap from character to story. Fiction writers of all levels are welcome. Kim Fu is the author of two novels and a collection of poetry, most recently "The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore," which was called "propulsive" and "skillful" by the New York Times. Her debut "For Today I Am a Boy" won the Edmund White Award and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award, among others. Her writing has appeared in Granta, the Atlantic, Hazlitt, and the Times Literary Supplement. Fu lives in Seattle, Washington and is an instructor-advisor at the Humber School for Writers. Kim Fu will read from her latest work, "The Lost Girls of Camp Forevermore" at 2 PM in the Brooks Room. Reading will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.
