 Explore vampire folklore in American culture.

Why have vampire stories been a popular form of entertainment in American culture? How did folklore about vampires develop, and what connections can we draw between past folklore and contemporary popular culture in the U.S.? In this talk, we will explore historical and geographical influences on vampire folklore as well as the significance of vampire stories, specifically "The Vampire Diaries," in the U.S.

Stephanie André earned her Bachelor's degree in English Literature at the University of Notre Dame and her Master's degree in English Literature at Rutgers University. She has been teaching academic writing since 2004 and has been teaching at Central Oregon Community College since 2011. She has also taught creative nonfiction, travel literature, technical writing, introduction to fiction, and a class on folklore and U.S. popular culture.
