Date: 10/21/2019
Start Time: 12:00 PM
End Time: 1:00 PM
Description:
Join us for a conversation with Rich Benjamin, author of "In Search of Whitopia."

Chances are, you've heard someone say matter-of-fact "Bend doesn't have any diversity." The numbers tell us that isn't true, but it makes it easier for some to dismiss these communities' experiences.

What larger trends are behind the national news? How are Oregon's communities both a powerful example -- and exception -- to what is going on across the country? During the last presidency, Rich Benjamin packed his bags and embarked a 2-year, 27,000-mile journey to the fastest-growing, whitest communities in America. Join him at this lunch-time discussion about our current society, polarization, and politics.

This program is in partnership with OSU-Cascades Diversity Committee and Oregon Humanities.
