Library: Sisters Public Library"Beyond the Barbed Wire: World War II Lessons from my Mom" During World War II, Linda Tamura's mother was among 120,000 Japanese Americans removed from their homes on the West Coast. Though her mom remained private about the past, Linda's questions led to uncovering secrets about her hometown. Linda will share her mother's words and wartime experiences and will reflect on lessons for our future. Linda Tamura is a 3rd generation Japanese American, daughter of a WWII veteran, and an orchard kid raised in Hood River. She is a Professor of Education Emerita at Willamette University and author of two books on Japanese Americans: "Nisei Soldiers Break Their Silence: Coming Home to Hood River" and "The Hood River Issei".
