Learn about the history and background of Oregon's fire lookouts and tips on how to visit them yourself.

Portland author Cheryl Hill will talk about the history and background of Oregon’s fire lookouts, highlight some of the interesting stories she came across while researching "Fire Lookouts of Oregon", and discuss the current state of lookouts in Oregon. She will also have some tips on visiting and renting lookouts.

Oregon native Cheryl Hill is a photographer, hiker, lookout enthusiast, and lifelong history buff. She works as a librarian in a public library and in her free time she volunteers with the Forest Service and several non-profits, goes hiking and backpacking, and works towards her goal of visiting every incorporated town in Oregon and every standing lookout in Oregon.
