What's it like to be a meteorologist? Learn about what it takes to forecast our local weather with KTVZ's Katie Zuniga.

During this online presentation Katie will take us on a video tour of the studio, talk about common weather events, and discuss what it takes to become a meteorologist.

Before working in journalism Katie ran a wedding and event planning company for 10 years. She became a regular guest on a morning news show, talking about wedding trends and planning at which point she went back to school to study broadcast journalism. Not long after she started at KTVZ, Katie began training under Chief Meteorologist Bob Shaw to be a weather anchor fill-in. It didn't take long for her to realize that she loved the weather. In the fall of 2019, Katie returned to school, in the online program at Mississippi State University. She is scheduled to graduate in 2022 with a BS in Operation and Broadcast Meteorology.

Katie was born in Oregon. She and her husband have lived all over the world but returned to the Pacific Northwest and settled in Bend where they are raising two sons. In the summer, you can find Katie and her family kayaking, camping and gardening. In the winter, they love to hit the slopes, and you will often find her with a latte and a sewing machine or knitting needles in hand.
