Event Type: Adult Program Age Group(s): Adult Date: 11/19/2020 Start Time: 6:00 PM End Time: 7:00 PM Description: Join us for this live mini-workshop exploring self-discovery through the stages of fermentation. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link the day before the program. Registration will close at that time.
Library: Downtown Bend Public LibraryExplore how the process of biological and food fermentation -- many of its principles, practices, and ingredients -- can be used as a lens through which to look at and engage in personal transformation work. Fermentation as personal transformation is a rich exploration because there are countless literal and metaphorical ways of contemplating and putting into practice the natural wisdom of fermentation and its sub-processes in our everyday life. For example, the role of both stillness and 'agitation' have a place in processes of fermentation, as they do in our own processes of self-exploration and self-discovery. This workshop will be held virtually (audio and video preferred), and we ask that you have ready one small empty container, as well as small containers of the following: water, salt, sugar, and vinegar (any kind will work just fine for this exploration). A fifth-generation Oregonian, Breyn Hibbs is devoted to the work her ancestors started in this region: creating vibrant communities filled with possibility and promise. Breyn currently lives in Portland and works in plant-based, sustainable, and upcycled food. Her background is in women's health, education, recovery, and leadership; trauma healing through embodiment, breathwork, yoga, and mindfulness; and community building. *cr* *zm* Registration Ends: 11/18/2020 at 12:00 AM Contact: Paige M.
