Learn about this unique desert ecosystem with National Park Service Rangers.

The desert landscape is the steady backdrop in The Other Americans, bringing solace and reprieve to Nora, and her late father Driss. Joshua Tree Park Rangers will talk about the unique desert ecosystem and highlight some plant and animal desert adaptations in the Mojave, while showing plants in their natural habitat. Livestreamed from the Mojave Desert, participants can directly ask Park Rangers questions about the desert ecology and the National Park Service.

Established in 1994, Joshua Tree National Park provides habitat for 813 higher plant species, 46 reptile species, 57 mammal species, and over 250 bird species. Two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in Joshua Tree National Park. A fascinating variety of plants and animals make their homes in a land sculpted by strong winds and occasional torrents of rain. Dark night skies, a rich cultural history, and surreal geologic features add to the wonder of this vast wilderness in southern California. Park Rangers from the Education Team provide virtual field trips and presentations to audiences all over the country.
