ONLINE ONLY: Writers Working - How to Self-Edit

Amanda Skenandore  Event Type: Adult Program
Age Group(s): Adult
Date: 12/7/2021
Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Description:
This is a live, interactive meeting. Registered participants will receive a Zoom link prior to the program. Participants are invited to share their videos.

This workshop will focus on the skills you need to edit your own work.

Author Harry Shaw said, "There is no such thing as good writing. Only good rewriting." Creating literary art is a multilayered process that goes far beyond writing the first draft of a poem, story, memoir, or essay. Authors must shape, hone, and polish their work just as a sculptor does with clay or marble. Self-revision is an essential part of that creation process, even for authors whose work later goes to a professional editor.

In this workshop, award-winning author Amanda Skenandore will offer a systematic, multilevel approach to editing. She will discuss why self-editing is essential and share specific tools for implementation. Attendees will have the opportunity during the workshop to practice and share their newly learned skills.

Amanda Skenandore is the award-winning author of three historical novels, The Second Life of Mirielle West, The Undertaker’s Assistant, and Between Earth and Sky. She’s also a registered nurse and certified infection preventionist. She lives in Las Vegas with her husband Steven and their pet turtle Lenore.
