Psychologist Thomas Doherty will share insights on coping with your environmental and climate concerns, exploring your unique environmental identity (including risk factors for climate distress and sources of wellbeing and resilience), and adapting your skills to take meaningful action in support of your values. Dr. Thomas Doherty is a psychologist based in Portland, Oregon who has a specialty addressing people’s concerns about environmental issues and climate change. His publications include the groundbreaking paper "The Psychological Impacts of Global Climate Change", cited over 800 times (https://www.teachgreenpsych.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Doherty-Clayton-2011-Psych-effects-of-climate-change.pdf) Thomas is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) and founded one of the first environmentally-focused training programs for mental health counselors in the US at Lewis & Clark Graduate School (https://graduate.lclark.edu/departments/counseling_psychology/ecopsychology/) Thomas is originally from Buffalo, New York.
