Is Self-Publishing for You?: A Quick Guide for Navigating Today's Book Publishing Maze
Author
Libi Astaire
Review
This is a good book about the advantages and disadvantages of different routes to self-publishing. I appreciated the information about the editorial process, printing, and marketing. The different budgets were helpful. A focus was placed on Amazon services, and I would have like more information of other services to see what was out there. The book was well-organized and flowed well.

The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Chaos Walking series is one of my favorite trilogies of all time. This, the first book, was one that I could not put down. If you like sci-fi, dystopia, and/or adventure, you should check out this book. The rights to the movie have been bought, so hopefully this story will make it to the big screen in the next few years (fingers crossed!).

Secrets of the Baby Whisperer
Author
Tracy Hogg
Review
I read this book in one sitting. A good common-sense approach to communicating with your baby before he is able to speak. Pretty helpful in deciphering babies' cues and cries. I ran copies of a few of her charts to help me decipher what my son is trying to tell me. Would recommend to new parents.

Born of Night

Sherrilyn Kenyon

The first in her League series, Kenyon brings us another strong, alpha male named Nykyrian. Keira meets Nykyrian after she has been kidnapped by enemies of her father. While I appreciate the humor that is often found in Kenyon's novels, I was a little disappointed with Keira, she was a little spoiled and naïve, which made it difficult to connect with her. Overall, a good read, with some definitely interesting characters. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

The Fault In Our Stars
Author
John Green
Review
Heartwrenching.

I'm not even sure I can review this book. There was more than one occasion during my reading of this book that I almost chose not to finish it. I felt physical pain throughout. Having a young son, my heart broke especially during the characters' interactions with their parents. Green does a wonderful job of crafting a book that you have to make a conscious choice to read - you want to and don't want to at the same time. Your choice is complicated by all human emotions: guilt, sorrow, laughter, love. I would recommend this book to a well-prepared reader. The content is difficult and minimally rewarding. A testament to Green's view of life, I suppose.
