Members of the Kaw Valley Rodeo Association will provide stories and demonstrations for kids, featuring Rodeo Clown Andy North, Barrelman Rick Young and Cowboy Poet Ron Wilson. Great for preschoolers and up. Each child who attends receives a free ticket to the Kaw Valley Rodeo.

Description
Students are invited to learn, watch and play chess. Beginners will learn basic rules and tactics, and more experienced players can improve their skills. Each meeting will include a short lesson on chess strategy. Suggested for 5th-12th graders, but all students are welcome. Instruction and supervision provided by KSU Chess Club. Usually meets 2nd & 4th Thursdays, 3:30-6:00 p.m.

Starting June 1st, keep track of your reading time and earn fun and delicious prizes! Log in to keep track of the time you spend reading or listening to books read aloud to you, and write a book review of your favorites if you like. You can read books from home or from any library. You can also include time spent reading magazines, graphic novels, listening to books on CD, or reading on TumbleBooks or e-readers.

Reading Prize Levels for kids age 0 - through 6th grade:

*250 minutes = choose a toy (bug squirter or magnifying glass), and choose a coupon (free Vista ice cream cone or free Varsity Donut)

*500 minutes = choose a free book and choose a coupon (free food from Famous Dave's, Texas Roadhouse, Papa Murphy's or Noodles & Co., or a free pass to the Sunset Zoo)

*1000 minutes = choose another toy (bug squirter or magnifying glass), and choose a coupon (free food from Famous Dave's, Texas Roadhouse, Papa Murphy's or Noodles & Co., or a free pass to the Flint Hills Discovery Center)


Visit Manhattan Public Library this summer to get your free "Fizz Boom Read" book bag and check out great books, videos, music, games and more. Kids are invited to attend storytimes or clubs in June; no registration required. Please pick up your prizes at our prize desk by July 31st. Have fun reading!
