Event Details

December 21, 2013, is the 100th anniversary of the crossword puzzle—and it's also the day that David Steinberg, crossword editor of The Orange County Register's associated newspapers and the second-youngest constructor to be published in The New York Times under Will Shortz's editorship, will be coming to the Palos Verdes Peninsula Center library to talk about crosswords! After hearing a brief history of the crossword puzzle, you'll learn about the Pre-Shortzian Puzzle Project, find out how a crossword puzzle is constructed and edited, hear strategies for solving even the most challenging of puzzles, and have an opportunity to ask all your crossword-related questions! This program is designed for solvers, constructors, and would-be constructors of all ages—anyone with an interest in the wonderful world of crosswords!
