The Multiplex: American cinema at the Peninsula Center Library Rolling Hills Estates, CA –Join us for PVLD’s The Multiplex, a film series featuring notable, popular and recent American releases from Hollywood. The Multiplex screenings will occur on the fourth Thursday of every month at 3 AND 6 PM. Our next film showing will be SAVING MR. BANKS at 3 PM, Thursday, July 24 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This event is free and open to the public. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series. The 2013 Drama SAVING MR. BANKS is set around Walt Disney's attempt to film MARY POPPINS in the early 1960s. Tom Hanks plays Disney and Emma Thompson plays author P.L. Travers, who is visiting Hollywood and unsure if she will let Disney make a movie of her book. MARY POPPINS might be a classic now but it was a struggle for Disney to get the rights to the story. The cast is rounded out by Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford and Kathy Baker. SAVING MR. BANKS will screen at 3 and 6 PM on July 24 in the community room of the Peninsula Center library, is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 125 minutes.
