Rolling Hills Estates, CA –Join us for PVLD’s Classic Movies at Noon, a film series featuring essential films from Hollywood from the 1930s through the 1970s. The Classics @ Noon series takes place on the first Monday of every month. Our next film screening will be DR. STRANGELOVE at noon, April 7 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This event is free and open to the public. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series. DR. STRANGELOVE: One of the great satires in movie history, in 1964 director Stanley Kubrick unleashed the scathingly hilarious DR. STRANGELOVE or: HOW I STOPPED WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB on us. Co-written by Kubrick and 1960s provocateur Terry Southern, DR. STRANGELOVE was ahead of its time, which might explain how well the film has held up in the fifty years since its release. Peter Sellers does not play a single character in the film, or two characters, that would be too easy for the comic genius Sellers. In DR. STRANGELOVE, Sellers plays three major characters and every one of them is pure gold. How he did not win a best actor Oscar is a travesty! The rest of the cast is also terrific and includes George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Slim Pickens, James Earl Jones and Keenan Wynn. DR. STRANGELOVE is rated PG, has a running time of 95 minutes and will screen at noon on April 7 in the Peninsula Center library's community room.
