Ciné-Monde: Global cinema at the Peninsula Center Library Rolling Hills Estates, CA –Join us for PVLD’s Ciné-Monde, a film series featuring notable films from around the globe. Our next film screening will be SCHULTZE GETS THE BLUES at 5:30pm, Thursday, October 9 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This event is free and open to the public and seating is on a first come basis. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series. Schultze is just your average German retiree trying to find things to do since he no longer works at the local salt mine. Schultze's main hobby is playing traditional German polka on his accordion but his world is turned upside down one night when he hears the very un-German sounds of Louisiana Zydeco music on his radio. Soon, Schultze is obsessed with this new way to make the accordion sound and dreaming of a trip to the Bayou despite speaking no English. A complete charmer, SCHULTZE GETS THE BLUES is a funny and touching look at a man who takes an unexpected journey to someplace completely foreign thanks to the power of the accordion. A box-office sensation and critical darling in its native Germany when released, SCHULTZE GETS THE BLUES will screen on October 9 at 5:30 PM in the Peninsula Center library community room, is rated PG, has a running time of 112 minutes and will be played in its original German with English subtitles.
