Event Details

Next in our Intro to Art Series, this two-hour workshop introduces students at all levels to the practice of plein air painting. Bernard Fallon will start with a short talk about the background to painting from nature and how it improves the artist’s understanding of shape, value and color. Students will be introduced to the versatility of watercolor pencils through a practical demonstration, and then proceed to create for themselves, some of the views and landscape details around Malaga Cove Library. Watercolor pencils can be used like ordinary pencils but they are also water-soluble. After a simple drawing is made, the artist can transform it into a painting with brush and water to create the beautiful layers of line and color that make the essential plein air study. Pencils, paper, water and easels will be supplied. Seating is very limited so arrive early. This is a joint program with the Palos Verdes Library District and the PV Art Center.
