Event Details

The Multiplex: American cinema at the Peninsula Center Library Rolling Hills Estates, CA –Join us for PVLD’s The Multiplex, a film series featuring notable, popular and recent American releases from Hollywood. The Multiplex screenings will occur on the fourth Thursday of every month at 3 AND 6 PM. Our next film showing will be BOYHOOD at 6 PM, Thursday, April 23 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This event is free and open to the public. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series. BOYHOOD is truly a unique movie and does something that no fictional film in the history of cinema has done before--follow the same actors over a span of time as they naturally age to coincide with the film's story. Shot over the span of 12 years, writer/director Richard Linklater has crafted the ultimate coming of age film, as we follow a 6 year old boy while he navigates life toward adulthood. BOYHOOD is not made up of life's most important moments, but it is the accumulation of the intimate, smaller moments of childhood that make the film poignant and profound as you watch the real-time journey of these characters. BOYHOOD stars Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette [who won a best supporting actress Oscar for the role] and Ethan Hawke. BOYHOOD is rated R for language and adult themes, has a running time of 165 minutes and will screen at 3 and 6 PM on April 23rd in the Peninsula Center library community room. The Peninsula Center Library is located at 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates.
