Babies in the Library

Aimed at ages 6-24 months, but open to all ages, this half hour includes playtime, a lap sit session with songs and nursery rhymes and a story for our youngest patrons and their caregivers. No registration required.

eBook Class for the Kindle

Do you own a Kindle or Kindle Fire and don’t know the first thing about borrowing e-books for free from the library? Would you like a little help becoming more familiar with your device? Then, you should come to one of these classes! You’ll get the personal attention that you need to get up and running with e-books. Kindle classes are offered every third Monday of the month.

PAWS to Read with spcaLA

When: Monday, May 20, 2013 - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Where: Peninsula Center Library at Storytime Room

Young readers can have fun and get valuable practice by reading aloud to a patient and gentle therapy dog. Co-sponsored by the library and the spcaLA, these visits by specially trained dogs and their handlers will take place in the Peninsula Center Storytime Room from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Each reading session lasts 15 minutes, so space is limited. Children may be either beginning or advanced readers, but they must be able to read on their own. Sign-ups by a parent or guardian are mandatory and begin at 3:00 p.m. For details, call the Young Readers desk at 310-377-9584, ext. 600.

Rolling Hills Estates, CA –Join us for PVLD’s The Multiplex, a film series featuring notable, popular and recent American releases from Hollywood. The Multiplex screenings will occur at 3 AND 6 pm on the fourth Thursday of every month. Our next film showing will be LINCOLN, Thursday, May 23 in the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. This event is free and open to the public. Following the film, there may be a brief discussion facilitated by the coordinator of the series.

LINCOLN is a 2012 drama directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln as he tries to push the 13th amendment into law in the waning days of the Civil War. Also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field and a stellar ensemble cast. LINCOLN is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 150 minutes.
