    Read a Million Words, Seattle!
The idea is a simple one – to have fun logging your reading, with a goal of reading a million words per year.
The goal for each grade can be found on the grade level tab at the top of this page.

How many words are a Million?
Here is another way to measure your reading goal
Your Million Word goal is 2 books read at home and 2 books read at school each day (independently or with another child or adult). This reading also equals 20 minutes of reading at home each day.

    63 books + other print formats = 125,000 words
    (1,250 minutes)
    125 books + other print formats = 250,000 words
    (2,500 minutes)
    250 books + other print formats = 500,000 words
    (5,000 minutes)
    375 books + other print formats = 750,000 words
    (7,500 minutes)
    500+ books+ other print formats = 1 Million Words!
    (10,000 minutes)
