This talk covers the various design elements needed to create that special place, be it a small nook or a garden room. Included are tips for making it a low maintenance garden as well as a spot that is wildlife friendly.

Whidbey Island Earthquakes: What to Expect; How to Prepare

This documentary film made by the 4-H Video Club describes local earthquakes that occur on Whidbey and the BIG earthquake that will occur on the Cascadia fault. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare for the worst could be a life saver. Geophysicist Robert Elphick leads a discussion concerning county, state and federal capabilities after the film, which was produced at the request of the Island Chapter of the Red Cross.

Magician Jeff Evans unearths secrets of the deep in his all-new subterranean summer reading spectacular. The surprises are non-stop whether Jeff is mining for precious metals, discovering aquifers of drinking water, or sharing amazing facts about the world’s deepest supercave. Science stunts, creepy crawlies, and amazing magic are buried throughout the show. Funded by the Friends of the Freeland Library.

Made by Hand: Feet and Finger Paint
