 Screens have never been more a part of kidsí lives. It is a constant battle to manage screen time and keep kids connected to the world off the internet. Dr. Catherine Pearlman has tips to ensure kids stay safe, smart and kind online. Some topics that will be discussed include boundaries, digital etiquette, safety, self-care, social media, cyberbullying, sexting, sleep, when to google and when not to, and scams/phishing. Dr. Pearlman will also explain how and when to monitor childrenís phones, how to limit time on social media, and why itís so important to turn off notifications and keep phones out of the bedroom. This event will be a presentation but will leave time for questions.

Author/Presenter: Dr. Catherine Pearlman is the founder of The Family Coach and a licensed clinical social worker who has been working with children and families for more than 25 years. Sheís on a mission to help parents enjoy parenting more. To that end, she advises on all matters of parenting from toddlers to teens on discipline, technology, behavior modification, food issues, sibling rivalry and more. Dr. Pearlman is the author of First Phone: A Childís Guide to Digital Responsibility, Safety and Etiquette and Ignore It: How Selectively Looking the Other Way Can Decrease Behavioral Problems and Increase Parenting Satisfaction. Dr. Pearlman received her doctorate in social welfare from Yeshiva University and her masterís degree in social work from New York University. She is the mom of two teens.
