Description:
Somers Library Book Group meets to discuss “And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln & the American Struggle” by Jon Meacham

MOVED TO SEPT 29 & OCT 2

The Somers Library Book Group meets both in person and virtually via Zoom to discuss Jon Meacham's “And There Was Light: Abraham Lincoln and the American Struggle.” We have both a day and an evening session, created to accommodate individuals who work or who cannot make daytime sessions. The daytime meeting this month begins earlier to accommodate the religious holiday.

Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Jon Meacham chronicles the life and moral evolution of Abraham Lincoln and explores why and how Lincoln confronted secession, threats to democracy, and the tragedy of slavery in order to expand the possibilities of America.

Location: Library Program Room
Other Information:
This Library-sponsored book group is led by Diana Cunningham, Librarian, who selects the books to be discussed, chosen in consultation with Tara Ferretti, Head of Public Services, with feedback and suggestions from the group. Registration is required; interested individuals should specify the session desired. For more information please call the reference desk.
