Workshop: Reinterpreting the Past At the Somers Library Fridays 3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7 & 4/21* from 3:15 - 4:45 pm. The Somers Library is offering teens a five-session workshop in how to use the popular photo editing program Adobe Photoshop. The workshop, taught by instructors from the Digital Arts Experience, is receiving funding from Westchester Library System’s Mini-Grant Initiative supported by Entergy and Con Edison and with collaborative support from Somers Historical Society. The teens will use historical photos of our town (supplied by the historical society) to create new photos using the features learned in the Photoshop workshop. These new reinterpreted photos would then be printed and mounted on foam board and then hung in the library artists gallery. The workshops will meet for 5 sessions—the first 4 will be held at the library and would be devoted to Photoshop techniques. The final session (*4/21), conducted by Somers Historical Society, will offer an opportunity for the students to learn about mid-19th century photographic technology from the Society's collection in the Wright Reis Homestead. The students will meet at the library on 4/21, but will walk up the the Wright-Reis Homestead. Pick-up for this session will be at the Wright Reis Homestead. This program is intended for teens in grades 7th and up! Space is limited; please register.
