Teen Fashion: Character Redo Using Illustration & College - Fridays 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 6/2 & 6/9 from 3:15-4:30 pm. Join us for a crafting and costume design class, where illustration and collage collide! Ever love a character and wish you could create something cool for them to wear? You can design a costume or wardrobe collection for your favorite character from a book, comic, anime, video game, or movie. Using drawing and a collage medium, you will portray your favorite character in a new look of your own design and take home a homemade magazine that includes your designs. Your character can be chosen from any genre of books - romance, sci-fi, dystopian, manga - or from any other media - movies, video games, anime. Some examples of characters... A new school outfit for Hermione Granger, armor for a Guardian in Destiny, a bib for Totoro, or a new toga for Ray in Star Wars. Or, perhaps you liked reading the Divergent series but saw the characters dressed differently than they were in the movie. The possibilities are only limited by the character you select. Who will you choose?" This program is intended for students in grade 6th and up. Space is limited, please register on our online events calendar (www.somerslibrary.org) or call (914-232-5717). Our programs are funded by the Friends of the Somers Library through your donations. Thanks for your support!
IMPORTANT: Kids should bring pencils to draw, color pencils and or markers & scissors. For the first class participants should have a picture or description of the character or the book or movie that they plan to change up.
