 Amanda Hunyar’s St. Louis State Hospital: A 150 Year Journey Toward Hope is a pictorial account of the history of the patients and staff, written in honor of the upcoming 150th anniversary of St. Louis State Hospital. This book-length work describes the evolution of mental health care in St. Louis.

Full of photographs, letters, and documents revealing the story of the St. Louis State Hospital, this book is the result of Hunyar’s discoveries of long-forgotten archival material tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the St. Louis State Hospital, an iconic dome building at 5400 Arsenal, where Hunyar works as librarian and archivist.
