Meet Paul Schmit, Jo Hiestand, and W.E (Bill) Mueller, the Muddy River Crime Writers. They will talk about writing, what got them started, how they work, and how to get published.

Paul Schmit is the author of Atonement, a humorous murder mystery set in small-town Minnesota. Police procedurals are his specialty, and many local police will suddenly be called to the other side of town when they see him coming.

Jo A. Hiestand is the author of two Derbyshire-based English mystery series. The Taylor & Graham series uses British customs as the backbone of each book’s plot. The McLaren Case Mysteries feature ex-police detective Michael McLaren, who investigates cold cases on his own. Jo founded the Greater St. Louis Chapter of Sisters in Crime, serving as its first president.

W.E. Mueller has written book reviews, essays and short stories since retiring as an advertising executive. “Peaches and Cream,” published by High Hill Press, is a collection of 16 stories. In a Post-Dispatch book review, Harry Levins wrote, “If you want wham-bam action, turn to ‘Peaches and Cream’…these movies-on-paper will entertain you.”
