TITLE;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:In Person Event: Ask Emily - A Writing & Fortune Telling Salon
SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:In Person Event: Ask Emily - A Writing & Fortune Telling Salon
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:This is a live, in-person, outdoor event. Masks are required. Physical distancing will be enforced. =0D=0A=0D=0AExplore the generative aspects of poetry and fortune-telling at this salon and poetry reading. =0D=0A=0D=0AThis event is part of a mini pop-up book tour featuring Emily Carr's Tarot Romance and fourth poetry collection, Name Your Bird Without A Gun (Spork Press, 2020). Equal parts poetry reading, writing workshop, and fortune-telling salon, this event is designed to invite your imaginations to spark off each other's, to jolt you into poems you didn't know you had inside you, and to introduce you to the generative intersections of creativity and fortune-telling. Each aspect of the event will be curated with your specific, personal, and important experience in mind. =0D=0A=0D=0AWhen you RSVP, you will be invited to share a question - personal, professional, work-related, family-related, romance-related - to ask Emily. Emily will use these questions to choreograph the poetry reading, interactive writing activities, and fortune-telling. =0D=0A=0D=0AThis salon is open to writers of all levels and genres, including folks who don't yet (know how to) self-identify as writers. Come prepared to experience your creativity as a catalyst for radical acts of connection - even and especially in these disconnecting times! Bring open minds, open ears, and open hearts - along with something to write with and on - and leave with inspiration for your creative endeavors, whether those happen on or off the page.=0D=0A=0D=0ACome for the magic and stay for the poetry!=0D=0A=0D=0AEmily Carr is a Tarot storyteller, ransom artist, divorce poet, and ecofeminist teacher. After she got an MFA in poetry from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, she took a doctorate in ecopoetics at the University of Calgary. These days, she's Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at New College of Florida. Her McSweeney's collection, whosoever has let a minotaur enter them, or a sonnet-, inspired a beer of the same name, brewed at the Ale Apothecary in Bend, Oregon. Emily's Tarot romance, Name Your Bird Without A Gun, is now available from Spork. Emily has published essays on storytelling and the Tarot in American Poetry Review (September/October 2019) and the Writer's Chronicle (Spring 2020).=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A*cr*
