Library: All BranchesExamine the impact of the Watergate scandal on 1970s America and its impact on today's political climate. From 1972 to 1974, the Watergate scandal grew from a "third-rate burglary" to an nationally mesmerizing event that caused the first and only resignation of a U.S. president. COCC history professor Murray Godfrey will discuss the history and context of the Watergate political scandal, how it affected 1970s politics and culture and how it still affects us in the present day. Murray A. Godfrey is assistant professor of American history in the World Languages and Cultures department at Central Oregon Community College, where he has worked since 2012. He received a Master of Arts degree in History from Texas State University, specializing in the history of 17th and 18th century North America. Prior to coming to Central Oregon, Murray previously taught for Austin Community College in Austin, TX and Alamo Community College District in San Antonio, TX. His secondary fields of research and teaching include the history of Native Americans, military history, and 20th century politics and culture. *cr* *oo* Contact: Paige M.
