Believe it or not, Cinco de Mayo is not just a good reason to drink and eat delicious Mexican food! There's interesting history and tradition surrounding this important Mexican holiday.

Why has the date become incredibly popular in the U.S. and what are the authentic Mexican traditions surrounding the 5th of May? Attend this presentation and discover why the celebration occurs and who and why the day is acknowledged with such jubilation.

Anna (Melendez) Johnson is an Arizona native and former Bendite. An Arizona State University broadcast journalism graduate, Anna also studied theatre and public communications in college. With over 20 years of experience as a public information specialist and community theatre volunteer (on and off stage), Anna is at her best when learning about or visiting historic buildings and believes everything with age has value and has a great story to tell. She currently lives in Goodyear, Arizona and is a writer and editor for the Arizona Game and Fish Department's wildlife conservation magazine Arizona Wildlife Views.
