Writers know how crucial it is to hook a reader as soon as possible. But how exactly do you do that? By nailing three very important firsts: a killer first line, a killer first page, and a killer first chapter. Learn how to write all of these at this workshop taught by local author Sarah Smith. Sarah is the author of five romcom novels, one women's fiction novel, and co-writer of the audio series Power Trip starring Tatiana Maslany. She's excited to share her writing methods and tips with workshop attendees.

Bring a notebook or laptop, pens, and any stories/manuscripts/drafts you are currently working on and would like to workshop.

Sarah Smith is a copywriter-turned-author who wants to make the world a lovelier place, one kissing story at a time. Her love of romance began when she was eight and she discovered her auntie's stash of romance novels. She's been hooked ever since. When she's not writing, you can find her hiking, eating chocolate, and perfecting her lumpia recipe. She is the author of Faker, Simmer Down, On Location, and If You Never Come Back. She is also one half of the romance writing duo Sarah Skye. Sarah also writes tear jerker women's fiction under the pen name Sarah Echavarre.
