Finding a Way In: Using Physical Objects to Write about the Emotional As writers (and human beings), sometimes it’s hard to get to the heart of what we want to say. Maybe we want to write about a particular memory or a person who has affected us deeply, but we just don’t know where to start. One method for tackling challenging subjects is to do so indirectly. In this generative workshop, we will use physical objects as a starting point for writing about the emotional through a series of prompts that draw on memory and observation. Writers will be encouraged to use these prompts to produce work in any genre. While she tends to dabble mostly in writing fiction herself, she loves to read and teach a variety of genres. She is also on a constant quest to find as many good children’s books as possible to keep her 18-month-old daughter happily reading. *cr* Location: Brooks Room Contact: Paige M.
