This is an in-person program. Masks are recommended at all in-person library events.

- Watch as Kelli Palmer demonstrates the art of cornhusk weaving and making basketry.

- Visit the Deschutes Land Trust table to learn about how you can help monarch butterflies and other pollinators thrive in Central Oregon. The Land Trust will have free native milkweed seeds to handout at the fair and other resources for building your own native butterfly and pollinator garden.

- Start seeds for your vegetable garden with Seed To Table to take home for spring planting.

- Build and plant nutritious microgreen kits with Community Librarian Graham Fox.


Kelli Palmer is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation of Oregon. "I am a combination of the Warm Springs, Wasco, Paiute, Shoshone, Yakama and Hoopa Tribes plus a little extra for good measure. I grew up and live on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation

As Kelli explains, "I was handed a wonderful opportunity to teach and share my craft for the first time by being invited to the 2009 National Basketry Organization Basket Convention in Portland, Oregon. It was a great first teaching experience that has encouraged me to continue to weave, teach and learn. I have been making baskets for about 21 years and I am still asking questions of my mother, reading books and researching on the internet to learn more. Making these baskets just feels right to me and I will continue to learn as I experience new methods and opportunities."

The Deschutes Land Trust is a local non-profit organization dedicated to conserving land in Central Oregon. Seed To Table is a local Sisters non-profit whose mission is to increase the health and wellness of the Central Oregon community through providing equitable access to locally grown, farm fresh produce and offering opportunities in farm based education.

Graham Fox is a Community Librarian who has worked at Deschutes Public Library for 5 years offering everything from art and tech help to Senior Services.
