Fold your way through this popular Japanese art form. Materials provided.

This is an in-person program. Registration is required. Masks are recommended at all in-person library events.

This Origami workshop will offer you easy steps and guidance in Japan's most popular form of art. Origami is an art form where paper is folded to create a range of shapes including animals, flowers, and people. By the end of the workshop, you will have a collection of beautiful and delicate origami pieces that you can take home and show your friends. Learn how paper folding became popular in historic Japan and hear explanations of why certain images, like cranes, are revered through the telling of Japanese folk tales. Paper to fold will be provided. No experience necessary.

Ami Zepnewski was born in Tokyo, Japan, and grew up abroad and in the U.S. She has been a Japanese teacher in Bend for over 20 years, sharing her love of Japanese culture and food with students, families, and the community.
