Description:
Discuss the healing potential of poetry and write your own.

This is an in-person program. Registration is required. Wearing a face covering is optional at all library events.

Hear how psychologists and poetry therapists understand the healing potential of poetry. Listen as Carol Barrett, local poet, shares a series of poems written to assist her in dealing with the loss of her father.

Participants will be invited to draft their own poem on the subject of loss and will have an opportunity to share their emerging writing with those assembled.

Carol Barrett holds doctorates in both Clinical Psychology and Creative Writing. She teaches Poetry and Healing courses for two universities, and has published three volumes of creative work: Calling in the Bones, Drawing Lessons, and Pansies.
