Hike DescriptionJoin the Deschutes Land Trust and Martha Lussenhop to wander through Camp Polk Meadow Preserve, where people have been visiting this place for at least 10,000 years, finding resources for food, shelter, clothing and more. Camp Polk Meadow Preserve has a long history as a crossroads for Native Americans, explorers, soldiers and settlers. Today it is known as a local nature preserve where restoration projects are providing healthier habitat for Chinook salmon and steelhead, deer and elk, songbirds and butterflies. We'll hike through the meadow making stops along the way to discover the changes that have occurred over time and learn more about the Land Trust's efforts to make the meadow a place where diverse wildlife and plants can thrive.

The Land Trust protects more than 17,523 acres in our region for today and tomorrow.
